African market infrastructure has a skills problem before it has a capital problem. Clearing, assay assurance, custody accreditation and surveillance are learned on an operating floor, and until recently there were very few floors on the continent to learn them on.
Our student programmes exist to change that. Every place is paid, every participant has a named supervisor, and every programme ends in a written assessment that belongs to the participant whether or not they stay with us.

Our Programmes
Each programme lists its length, host offices and eligibility. Applications open on the dates below and close when places are filled.
Graduate Analyst Programme
Four six-month rotations across clearing operations, market surveillance, custody assurance and member services, each with a named supervisor and a written assessment. Analysts who complete the programme are placed into a permanent role in the function that suits them best; placement is not a further competition.
Summer Internship
A single team, a single scoped project, and a presentation to that team's leadership at the end of it. Interns sit on the operating floor from week one and are paid at the same weekly rate across every office. Strong performers receive graduate programme offers before they return to study.
Corridor Field Fellowship
A field-based fellowship attached to a working corridor, covering assay practice, vault accreditation, chain-of-custody records and cross-border operations. Fellows spend a third of the year with an Assay & Assurance Agent and a third with a Custody Participant, and produce a field study the Exchange publishes.
Market Operations Apprenticeship
A paid apprenticeship combining supervised operating-floor work with funded study toward a recognised market operations qualification. Apprentices are assessed on the job rather than by examination alone, and complete the programme as qualified operations officers.
Application Timetable
Dates apply across every host office. Where a corridor session calendar requires a different start date, it is confirmed in the offer.
Graduate Analyst Programme
Applications open 1 October and close 30 November. Assessment centres run in January; offers are made by mid-February for an August start.
Summer Internship
Applications open 1 November and close 31 January. Interviews run in February and March for a June start.
Corridor Field Fellowship
Applications open 1 February and close 15 April, with a single intake each September. Fieldwork requires medical clearance, arranged and paid for by the Exchange.
Market Operations Apprenticeship
Two intakes each year, in March and September. Applications are accepted continuously and assessed in the order received.
What We Look For
Willingness to be accountable
Every participant owns something real within their first month, and is asked about it in front of people who know the answer.
Interest in the mechanism
We are more interested in candidates who want to know how settlement finality works than in candidates who want to have worked at an exchange.
No requirement to have been here before
Programmes are assessed on structured exercises, not on prior exposure. The apprenticeship carries no degree requirement at all.
